Many people who want to lose weight fast have to decide either for fasting or doing a diet. Fasting for a certain time such as a week or a month is sometimes extreme (especially in the beginning!) since you only are allowed to drink water. But it's a truly efficient way to lose superfluous body fat very quickly.
In most cases, one day of fasting will really do.
Benefits of fasting
Fasting not only helps you lose fat but also has many positive effects on your health: Fasting for a certain time cleanses your body and clears your mind because your thoughts are more focused and your actions get more transparent to others.
Forcing yourself to eat nothing helps maintain normal blood sugar levels since your body gets more sensitive to insulin. In addition to that, your risk of getting cancer of any kind is minimized: The cell proliferation rates get dramatically reduced because your body is no longer on "high-speed".
Another benefit of intermittent fasting is that cognitive decline in diseases such as Parkinson's disease is reduced.
What happens when you are fasting?
Instead of wasting its energy on the digestion of meals, your body finally has the opportunity of repairing its internal health problems: Up to eighty (!) percent of your bodys vital energy is now free to solve other problems. Every system in your body is turned down and certain hormone levels get lower. At the end of a three week fast, your metabolism will have been changed completely. Positive side-effect: Your mind isn't focused on eating either.

How to begin your fast
If you're new in this "section", contact your local doctor first. And don't be shocked if he or she tells you that you shouldn't do a fasting because it's unhealthy (most doctors haven't got the slightest idea of healthy nutrition and healthy lifestyle!).
Start your fasting with a one-day fast, that means, eat nothing and only drink plenty of water for just one day. Pay attention to the signals your body will give you during this "test fast": If you get the impression that everything is ok, then go on. If you feel bad, this could be caused by caffeine withdrawal or blood sugar problems.
And keep in mind - fasting is never easy because your body is used to consume delicious food and well-tasting drinks and you'll probably feel uncomfortable. So self control is always a must-have when doing a fast.
